It all comes down to having a cool head.

This morning I read a note from Sandy Jadeja at spread betting firm City Index.

According to Jadeja the percentage of female spread bettors continues to grow year-on-year.

What is more he says that women actually possess a better spread betting mentality than men.

He believes that females are naturally more cautious traders and thus prepare their spread betting research more effectively than their male counterparts.

Apparently this is a view shared by several financial spread betting companies who have revealed that their female clients clearly outperform their male ones.

I have in the past written a post on how those in older age brackets make better spread bettors.

A five year study that was released late last year showed that over 50s are by far the most successful spread bettors.

A full 40% more profitable than their 20-something counterparts, ending the myth that risk and results are the stuff of youth.

Vince Stanzione suggests the research confirms that it is the cool attitude that the over 50s possess when he says:

“I’ve long believed that, in the markets, results come from wisdom, not the hot-headedness of youth. But, even so, I was surprised to see just how well the ‘silver surfer’ traders fared: the over 50s performed 25% better than the 30-50 group and a staggering 40% better than the 18-30s, who were the least successful of the groups.”

Lesson - spread betting success comes with a cool, calculated approach.
